Sally Rhone-Kubarek was born in Bucyrus, Ohio into a military family. As a child, she moved frequently, living in many States and for 3 years in Japan. She completed High School in Pennsylvania and enrolled in the College of Fine Arts at Syracuse University. After 2 years she moved into Liberal Arts and completed a BA in Psychology. She married and in 1969 moved to Europe. For 37 years she lived in various European countries and Morocco. During these years she returned to art by attending classes and workshops in Europe and the States. She worked and studied in many mediums; oil, pastel, drawing, acrylics, watercolor, egg tempera, collage, silkscreen, monotype, ceramic glazes on tiles, sculpture, and combinations of all the former. Subject matter was just as varied, though her favorite subjects are figurative. She has exhibited her work in both group and solo shows in Germany and Italy. In 2004 she returned to the States. Sally and her husband now live in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she is a member of "Art First," a co-op gallery. She won her first local award in 2008 with a "first" in the "Uniquely Fredericksburg" juried show. In the summer of 2009, she had a one-man show at the visitor center in Fredericksburg.
